Dr. Oscar Martinez
Dr. Martinez was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He is a graduate of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and remained at UT Southwestern to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine at Parkland Hospital. He currently is an attending physician and medical director of the Emergency Department for Lucent Healthcare Solutions. He has worked at both large, urban trauma centers and rural hospitals including Baylor University Medical Center and Valley Regional Medical Center where he served as medical director. During his tenure, he was awarded the Thomas Frist Humanitarian Award, given to individuals who serve their community and whose daily dedication and care giving epitomize the highest standards of quality and personal commitment. Before his medical career, Dr. Martinez received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Georgetown University and worked as a business consultant in San Francisco, California. In 2011, he founded the non-profit GivingMore.org to provide free medical care and education to rural villages in southwest Nicaragua. He has also served on medical trips to Costa Rica and Haiti.
