Dr. Richard Spitz
Richard J. Spitz, MD has over 16 years experience as a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician, working in the San Antonio area. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Spitz has worked in a variety of settings to include Level 1 trauma centers, teaching facilities, community and free standing Emergency Departments. He has been an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Health Allied Science Center (UTHSC) since 2003 and has worked for the Greater San Antonio Emergency Physician’s group since 2001.
Dr. Spitz is originally from Upstate New York and came to Texas as a Linguist in the US Army. After an honorable discharge, Dr. Spitz worked as a Ground Paramedic south of Chicago, and as Flight Paramedic as one of the early members of San Antonio Airlife. Dr. Spitz completed undergraduate studies at University Texas at San Antonio, Medical School at Chicago Medical School, and a residency in Emergency Medicine at The University of Chicago.
Dr. Spitz has served as Medical Director of Stone Oak Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, and most recently as Medical Director and Regional Medical Director of Elitecare in San Antonio.
